A western spring wedding at the Nirvana Estate in Bakersfield
One year later, photographer Sierra Brook is still thinking about this spring wedding, and she had a better view than most. She was both a bridesmaid and the photographer, which made every moment feel that much more meaningful. The sweetest people, dreamy spring details, and a celebration that felt effortless from beginning to end.
Photographed from inside the wedding party
Shooting a wedding while wearing a bridesmaid dress is not standard practice, but it gave these photos something a hired stranger rarely gets: the access of a best friend. The getting ready frames, the quiet lace umbrella moment by the window, the bouquets thrown up mid laugh. Nothing had to be staged because Sierra was already in the middle of it.
Western polish at the Nirvana Estate
The estate’s courtyards and cypress rows did the heavy lifting, and the styling leaned in: a Resistol hat on the groom, Friar Tux on the guys, a gown from L’amour Bridal with a veil that deserved its own portrait session above the vineyard.

A family day
Their little girl was in the middle of all of it, passed between the couple through the ceremony and the portraits. Some of the best frames of the day are the three of them, a small reminder that a wedding is rarely just about two people.

A party that ended on a bus
Prime Time BBQ handled dinner with a separate grazing table for cocktail hour, Tastries built the cake, and the champagne tower came down glass by glass as the DJ kept the floor full. By the end of the night there was a party bus full of friends and a lot of dancing left in everyone.

Photography was $4,000, video $2,500, and the DJ $3,200. Rentals came to $2,500 with another $1,000 in decor, the grazing table was $1,700 on top of catering, desserts were $1,500, signage $550, and the honest little lines add up too: a $250 sweetheart table, a $50 cake cutting set, $450 for hair and makeup, and even $150 for the dog’s attire.
