Love, Boots, and Lace – An Intimate Newcastle Elopement

Claire and Jake are a beautiful couple inside and out.  The two had quite the week leading up to their elopement!  The entire family got the flu and Cyclone Debbie blew through town, making it seem impossible for them to elope outdoors.  But instead of feeling like the world was against them, they realized that week how lucky they were to have the support of their close friends and family.  What a great reminder to never forget what matters most on that special day.

They decided to get married at The Lucky Hotel in Newcastle, a modern, boutique hotel in the heart of the city.  The bride got ready with her son and bridal party.  We love all of her alternative bridal accessories, including a wide brimmed grey hat, clunky brown booties, an elegant headpiece and bejeweled anklets.

Their celebrant’s name was Monty King and they they described him as “a beautiful bearded, tattooed man they fell in love with”.  After just a few minutes on his website I couldn’t agree more.  Their toddler was a part of the ceremony and they were surrounded by love and smiling faces.  Two that I won’t ever forget were there’s as they smiled at each other during the service.

After the ceremony the small group shared drinks,  afternoon tea and savory treats.  The stylish bridal party wore mismatched lace dresses and statement turquoise jewelry.  If you look closely, bride Claire is also wearing turquoise earrings, a perfect something blue for an alternative bride.

After the reception the group followed Nick Sim, their incredible photographer, into the forest, overlooking the ocean, in front of a seriously cool old tin shed and on the very top of a car park to take some of the most stunning sunset photos we’ve seen.

We love so much about this wedding.  Like how happy both the bride and groom look in every photo, how they incorporated their adorable little one into their ceremony, how laid back they were about planning and how perfectly things came together in the end.  Claire and Jake, you both radiate joy, love and confidence and we’re so happy for you!  Thank you for sharing your special day with Engaged Life.
